Today was challenging while people were busy preparing for the upcoming storm we lost some valuable time getting the kennels and supplies to the site because our ride couldn't make it. Not to fear, the community pulled together and we saw seven pick up trucks in the driveway with the 'stranded' trailer, ready to load supplies.
Thank you everyone, we'll be out of the site by 5:00pm tomorrow to make sure everyone is home safe and sound before the storm. THANK YOU Kelley Kenney!!
Friday Grooming is Cancelled but the Event is ON!
Grooming and bathing today is canceled but we would love any help you could give us setting up the site. We'll be working on the site by three if you can help – anyone with a pick up or box truck that could take some of the kennels would be appreciated!
Weather Update:
We're still going forward with the event. We may have to cancel Sunday but Saturday looks good and we'll have to find many homes in one day, we can do it. Schedule is still on as planned although we do not have dogs coming into the site tomorrow, only Saturday morning. Watch this Irene, Go Dog Days!

We're checking with city officials and keeping a very close watch of hurricane Irene. Please check this blog, Facebook or call our 800# at: (800) 653-3134 for last minute information about the adoption event. We will post information in those areas if we change the original plan. As of Wednesday night at 11:00pm we're still going forward.
Don't Forget Volunteer Registration is Tomorrow!
Volunteer registration is tomorrow between 5:00pm and 8:00pm at Parmelee Farm. Registration will take about 30 minutes and you can come in as late as 8:00pm. We look forward to meeting everyone!
A Fantastic Fundraiser Last Weekend!
The Killingworth volunteers did a spectacular job organizing and running a Bid, Barter and Bake fundraiser. They raised almost $2000 to go towards the event costs this coming weekend. Merchants from around the area donated for a silent auction and bakers showed up with some fantastic treats. Tag sale items are always a hit and we appreciate everything and anything done to help a shelter dog find a home. Thank you Killingworth!
